Preparing for Your Hospital Visit: A Practical Checklist

July 31, 2026

A little preparation makes any hospital visit smoother and helps your care team give you the best possible attention.

Bring a valid ID, your insurance documents, and a written list of all medications you take — including dosages, supplements and anything available over the counter. If you have had previous scans, laboratory results or medical reports relating to your condition, bring those as well.

Consider writing down your questions in advance. It is easy to forget them during an appointment. If you would find it helpful, bring a family member who can take notes and help you recall the discussion afterwards.
